False Belief Reasoning in Pre-Schoolers: Sandbox

Age: 3-5 Years

Time/Location: About 15 minutes playing online games at home while on Zoom with a researcher from Queen’s University!

Background: Theory of mind is the understanding that people's behaviours are guided by internal mental states, such as their intentions, desires, and beliefs. This understanding is considered to be an important developmental milestone as it does not emerge until around five years of age. In this study, we will be investigating whether children find it harder to judge the false beliefs of in-group members (those who share similar traits) compared to out-group members. Children will listen to a story where they will be instructed to create a character and follow a task.
