Theory of Mind in Pre-Schoolers: BirdBox

Age: 3-6 Years

Time/Location: Approximately 1 hour doing EEG tasks in our lab at Queen's

Background: Theory of mind is the understanding that people's behaviours are guided by internal mental states, such as their intentions, desires, and beliefs. This understanding is considered to be an important developmental milestone as it does not emerge until around five years of age. In this study, we will be investigating the neurocognitive factors involved in the development of children's theory of mind. Using electroencephalography (EEG), we will be examining children's brainwaves as they try to reason about others’ beliefs in an animated game about birds!
